Bringing together ambitious women from different continents to learn from each other
Equality, diversity and inclusion are the key for a sustainable future. Empowerment is a fundamental right that everyone should have equal access to, since it has the power to transform society by embracing diversity as something beautiful. Women today face several social and societal difficulties based on their gender alone: gender biases, stereotypes, norms, and oppression. Through equal participation in education, politics, economics, and society overall, women gain the confidence they deserve. Because women can - and women will.
Ambitious.Africa and Women’s Career Society share values regarding empowerment, which is why we wanted to collaborate on a project in which we will create networks between Africa, the Nordics, and beyond. To make this a reality, Ambitious Africa created a six-week program. Our aim is to bring female professionals together, to inspire and empower one another, and create valuable networks to improve their professional skills. Through the Women-to-Women Mentorship Program, both parties act as mentors and mentees simultaneously, equally learning and inspiring each other, eliminating a hierarchical structure. Participants gain cross-cultural communication skills and valuable insights about themselves during the whole program.
The first Women-to-Women mentorship program was successfully organized in the Fall 2020 and it brought together 20 ambitious young people. Catarina, one of the participants of the first round describes their experience in the following way.
“As a participant in the Women-to-Women mentorship program I had the opportunity of experiencing the fundamentals of a strong relationship, on a professional and personal level, with someone who shared interesting insights and brought new perspectives on career and life, while learning more about myself as well as my partner. One of the best moments I shared with my mentorship partner was when we realised that even though we come from extremely different backgrounds, we shared the same values, but also the professional and personal struggles that women face around the world. Through this experience I gained a lifelong and trustworthy supporter, friend and ally.”
Do you know what the best part is? The second women-to-women mentorship program will take place this spring 2021, and we’re looking for more participants to join us in this journey! The application period will start in March so stay tuned for more information!
